### Discussion :: Odd Man Out and Series - Pick Wrong No. (Q.No.14)

Find out the wrong number in the given sequence of numbers.

14. | 56, 72, 90, 110, 132, 150 |
|||||||

Answer: Option D Explanation: The numbers are 7 x 8, 8 x 9, 9 x 10, 10 x 11, 11 x 12, 12 x 13. So, 150 is wrong. |

Here the alternate way is available.... that is 56+16=72 72+18=90 90+20=110 110+22=132 132+24=156 so the 150 is wrong here :) |

Differences b/w the i^{th} term and (i+1)^{th} term starts from 16 and goes on increasing by 2... The last no 150 doesn't satisfy this condition. |

Mehar said: (Jan 7, 2011)

72-56=16; 90-72=18; 110-90=20; 132-110=22; 150-132=18; So it is disturbs the sequence of flow. |

Bharu said: (Aug 27, 2011)

56+90=146 (146-2)/2= 72 Similarly (72+110-2)/2= 90....... (110+150-2)/2=129 but not 132 so 150 is wrong. |

Prashanth said: (Sep 22, 2011)

7^2+7=56 8^2+8=72 9^2+9=90 10^2+10=110 11^2+11=132 12^2+12=156 So 150 is wrong. |

Megha said: (Feb 19, 2012)

I think 110 is not divisible by 3. All others are divisible by 3. So 110 is also wrong |

Payel said: (Mar 8, 2012)

Megha you are wrong. 56 is not divisible by 3. |

Amarendra said: (Aug 23, 2012)

56,72,90,132,150 are divisible by 3 but not 110 so 110 is also answer |

Akula Sai Kumar said: (Dec 20, 2012)

The difference between the 2 successive numbers ie,72-56=16,90-72=18,110-90=20,132-110=22,{150-132=18}which has to be 24.so 150 is the wrong no. "be tricky" |

Mishti said: (Aug 13, 2013)

According to the differences of the respective numbers next term should be 156. But according to the given explanation the next term should be 172. Really confusing. |

Manikandan said: (Aug 29, 2013)

72-56=16; 90-72=18; 110-90=20; 132-110=22; 150-132=18; So 150 is wrong. |

Kartik said: (Dec 30, 2013)

You can even think this way. 1) The first two digits are following odd numbers. i.e. 5+2=7, 7+2=9... 2) The last digit is some what like this. 6, 2, 0, 0, 2, 6... But 150 didn't satisfy 2nd rule. I think this is crazy thought. |

Badri said: (Feb 15, 2014)

It may also be like this, Going on adding 16, 18, 20, 22, 24. So 150 is the wrong answer because it should be replaced by 156. |

Aravind said: (Mar 6, 2014)

If we take 6 as divisor, then 110 will be answer. Because all others are divisible by 6. |

Dharani said: (Jul 17, 2014)

56, 72, 90, 110, 132, 150 1st digits = 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15. Last digits = 6, 2, 0, 0, 2, 6. So 6 is missing at the last digit of 150. |

Minj said: (Sep 5, 2014)

All are divisible by 3, except 110. So 110 is odd one. |

Raj said: (Apr 7, 2015) | |

The last digits are 6, 2, 0, 6, 2, 0. Hence 110 is the odd no. |

Sandip Pradhan said: (Jul 5, 2016)

The numbers are 7 x 8, 8 x 9, 9 x 10, 10 x 11, 11 x 12, 12 x 13. So, 150 is wrong. |

Sagar said: (Jul 18, 2016)

If logic of numbers divisible by 3 is applied then 110 becomes odd. |

Mounika said: (Jul 25, 2016)

56 is not divisible by 6 & 3. 150 disturbs the series of adding +16, +18, +20, +22, +24. The right no is 154. So 150 is the odd number. |

Sree said: (Jul 26, 2016)

Given 56, 72, 90, 110, 132, 150. Now lets check their squares 56 = 7 square (49) + 7 = 56. Likewise in case of 72 = 8 square (64) + 8 = 72. But in case of 150 = 12square (144) + 12 = 156. So 150 is an odd number to be outed friends. |

Abhinav said: (Aug 8, 2016)

All the numbers except 110 are divisible by 3. And hence in my opinion 110 is wrong option. |

Manjupriya said: (Aug 11, 2016)

Given 56, 72, 90, 110, 132, 150. 7 * 8 = 56. 8 * 9 = 72. 9 * 10 = 90. 10 * 11 = 110. 11 * 12 = 132. 12 * 13 = 156. From the above explanation, 150 is incorrect. So it is odd one. |

Suyash More said: (Sep 12, 2016)

60 - 4 = 56, 80 - 8 = 72, 100 - 10 = 90, 100 + 10 = 110, 120 + 12 = 132. |

Anshu Tiwari said: (Jan 12, 2017)

56 + 16 = 72 72 + 18 = 90 90 + 20 = 110 110 + 22 = 132 132 + 18 = 150 So, 150 is wrong. |

Raj Verma said: (Jan 20, 2017)

72 + 60 = 132 90 + 60 = 150 56 + 60 = 116 But given is 110, this is also a type of series and 110 is also an answer. So it's a multiple type answer. |

Ashwin said: (Jan 23, 2017)

All the number except 110 are exactly divisible by 3 so 110 is also a correct answer. |

Dinesh Kumar said: (Mar 8, 2017)

7 2 -56 = 16 90 - 72 = 18 110 - 90 = 20 132 - 110 = 22 150 - 132 = 18. So, 150 is wrong. |

Adhiyan said: (Oct 16, 2017)

@ALL. 5 + 2 = 7 6 - 4 = 2 72 7 + 2 = 9 2 - 2 = 0 90 9 + 2 = 11 0 - 0 = 0 110 11 + 2 = 13 0 - 2 = - 2 132 13 + 2 = 15 - 2 - 4 = - 6 156 NOTE : JUST IGNORE THE MINUS ( - ) SYMBOL. |

Sushrita said: (Jul 11, 2018)

110 can also be answer of this. As all numbers except 110 are divisible by 6. So it can be 110. Isn't it? |

Priya said: (Nov 15, 2018)

No, @Sushrita. 56 is also not divisible by 6. |

Mariya said: (Feb 28, 2019)

72-56 = 16 90-72 = 18 110-90 = 20 132-110 = 22. So, the next term is 132 + 24 = 156. Therefore option [D] is the answer. |

Sultan Ali Noorani said: (Jan 7, 2020)

@All. I solve it as; 72-56=16, 90-72=18, 110-90=20, 132-110=22, 150-132=18( here the sequence break )so; 150 is an odd man term. |

Agree, thanks @Sultan Ali Noorani. |
